The St. Mary's School/ Kids Unlimited Academy ( KUA) Scholarship Program started in 2019 when supporters of both schools came together to completely fund four scholarships for KUA 8th graders to attend St. Mary’s School for their high school years.
In the 2024-2025 academic year, we added four new KUA Scholars to our student body, bringing the total number of KUA Scholars to sixteen.
Through the generous support of donors, we hope to add four KUA Scholars to the St. M high school student body each year.
Vanessa Lim once sat in her advisor's office and said she didn't think she would go to college because she didn't think her parents could afford it. As a SMS/KUA Scholar who started her St. Mary's career during the online and masked world of Covid but ended it with a substantial scholarship to Stanford, Vanessa believes that no goal is too lofty and no success is out of reach if she continues to work hard, ask questions, and learn from teachers of all types. The graduating senior left her mark on St. Mary's by starting and participating in several clubs, traveling abroad multiple times, and creating long-lasting friendships with our international students, all while working at her family's restaurant.
When she arrives on the campus of Stanford University this fall, there will be countless opportunities to apply her enthusiasm for learning from world-class faculty while she earns her undergraduate degree in Economics. With an eye toward participating in campus finance clubs and learning about investments and venture capital, Vanessa is prepared to thrive in the heart of California’s Silicon Valley thanks to her time at St. Mary’s and her “get it done” attitude.

As a sophomore, each student is asked to envision life after high school. When Annikka Fetro was asked, shesaid she dreamed of swimming in college. After earning the top five awards for swimming in the state of Oregon, as well as competing in archery, track & field, and cross country, this remarkable graduate got her wish: Annikka will swim at Linfield College in McMinnville. But that's not all. Annikka also competed for and was awarded an Arts Scholarship after being identified as one of the top three applicants at Linfield. A talented artist, Annikka plans to enjoy a minor in Art while majoring in Marine Biology. She says, "By studying the ocean, humans will find many undiscovered creatures and cures for many ailments...as 80% of the ocean still has yet to be discovered." Annikka hopes her discoveries will help cure neurological disorders and other diseases.
Martin Camarillo
When visiting St. Mary's, one could hardly miss Martin Camarillo with his signature hairstyle and a smile that spreads across his whole face.
Martin explored a little bit of everything St. Mary's had to offer. He played guitar, built robots, learned about piracy and made many friends. He could often be found laughing with his peers during break and always seemed to have a kind word to share. Martin was voted by his classmates to be awarded the Saint Juan Diego Award in recognition of his "kind and compassionate actions to others even when no one else is looking." He wore his green cord with pride during commencement. Martin will attend Rogue Community College and is interested in environmental science.
