Community 101 Lunchtime Talk- Children's Advocacy Center

Callaway Library
The St. Mary's Community is invited to join us for our Community 101 Speaker Series.
Community 101 is a student-led program that provides students the opportunity to be involved in their community by writing grant proposals, learning about/working with non-profit organizations, and participating in volunteer work. There are several Community 101 programs in the Rogue Valley and throughout the state of Oregon that are run by the Oregon Community Foundation (OCF). Community 101 programs receive $5,000 from the OCF for grantmaking, and the money will later be awarded to the non-profit organizations that the members of Community 101 select.

Together with our board we developed our mission statement. It is as follows:

The students at St. Mary’s High School have chosen to support the critical issue of mental health in Southern Oregon. With the generous support of Oregon Community Foundation, our chapter will be donating funds and volunteer hours to the cause of supporting mental health problems in our community, which impacts 35.3% of adults and 16% of high school students statewide. We would like to see increased awareness of mental health issues related to domestic violence, substance abuse, and houselessness.

We are proud to announce the following speakers:

Tammy Pitzen from the Children's Advocacy Center (Tuesday, January 16th)

Dr. Kerri Hecox from Oasis (Monday, January 22nd)

Barbara Johnson from Community Works/Dunn House (Tuesday, January 30th)
